I do think games are way over-price anyway and if I can possibly wait long enough prefer to buy them second hand and at a lower price. ![]() Is it good value? Well that depends on what you paid and if you were happy to pay it. Really good fun with the usual blend of horror and darkly comic moments. The Zombie levels are probably one of the best in the series. Some of the guns do seem to be a little overpowered and some of their accompanying sound effects seem a great deal different from the same guns in other COD titles but this is a minor and almost negligible thing to mention (apart from when playing Multi-player and they shoot you with ease through hard brick walls with a pistol!) The story line is pretty typical and just what you would expect of any World War 2 game (or film for that matter) produced in America. Unlike other die-hard COD players I've not been as disappointed (or in total controller destroying rage) with the direction of the series into more futuristic realms (remember the reaction to Infinite Warfare which at the time the was one of the most down-voted video in youtube history) but I do prefer the World War 2 setting. You get the chance to play an allied soldier who has to fight his way through occupied France, Belgium, and through the river Rhine to get to his final destination Germany.I grew up playing Call of Duty (and Medal of Honour may it rest in peace) which to show my age was always set in World War 2 in the beginning so it was great to see the title return to it's roots. The moment your storyline starts in Call of Duty: WWII is when the allied forces find their way into Germany with the mission to put an end to the war. In Call of Duty: WWII there is great character development, a phenomenon that is new to the Call of Duty series you do not only have a playable character, but this character comes with an actual life story, there is a need for this playable character to end the war, and to survive and sustain all the hardships life throws at him during the game. The storyline of the game refers to the most famous battles out of the most significant war years 1944-1945, but there are also many situations of the period 1940-1945 incorporated in the game. ![]() The graphics of a war-torn Europe are absolutely phenomenal in Call of Duty: WWII, and because of this you get fully engaged in the story of the game. ![]()
